Visit Our Responsibly Raised Farm Animals Near Ballston, Saratoga Springs, Albany & the Capital Region
Wm. H. Buckley Farm raises a wide variety of farm animals with care and respect naturally, humanely and sustainably. Our cows, chickens, turkeys and pigs are pasture-raised and fed a diet that nature intended. All are watched over by our three much-loved Maremma farm dogs, which are a breed of livestock guardian dogs with Italian origins. Maria, Tecumseh and Una protect our cows, pigs, chickens and turkeys and when you come to the farm for a day visit or overnight farmstay, they’ll be among the first to welcome you.
Our Angus cattle graze on lush green grasses as they roam freely about our 300 acres of open pasture. We’re committed to raising cows and producing grass-fed beef without growth hormones or antibiotics. You won’t find our cows stuck in stalls and hooked up to IVs that artificially increase growth rates. No farm animals in unlivable conditions on our farm.
Our on-site butcher processes our beef, assuring the highest quality and reducing transportation and handling from farm to you. Available here at our butcher shop and store, our USDA-inspected beef is dry-aged and also available by delivery. Studies have shown that premium grass-fed beef is good for your body, with significant health benefits compared to commercially produced beef.

We raise Tamworth and Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs in our open pastures during the summer months, and inside in our piggery during the winter. The most direct descendant of the native pig stock of Europe that descended from wild boars, Tamworth is one of the oldest pig breeds. It takes its name from the English town of Tamworth in Staffordshire.
The Gloucestershire Old Spot, or GOS, is descended from a region in Gloucestershire, England known as the Vale of Berkeley. Recognized as the oldest spotted pig pedigree in the world, the GOS was once popular with small family farms where they were raised on dairy by-products such as whey, and orchard ‘drop fruit’. This is where the nicknames ‘cottage pig’ and ‘orchard pig’ originated.
Pasture-raised and free of added hormones and antibiotics, our pigs are fed an all-natural diet of grain and green grasses. They’re much healthier roaming free and eating a diet that’s naturally suited for them, and pastured pork has higher levels of vitamin E, healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, and many other nutrients usually lacking in conventionally-raised pork. Pastured pork also offers one of the most dramatic flavor and texture contrasts to industrial-produced pork, with good fat cover and marbling that makes it easy to cook without drying out. Don’t forget to visit the ever-present piglets when you come see us!

Cage-free and pasture-raised, our chickens are also free of hormones and antibiotics. As opposed to indoor confinement, free-range chicken is a sustainable agriculture approach done in a natural environment, resulting in superior texture and flavor.
Our cage-free eggs come from pasture-laying hens whose foraging helps produce eggs with an orangish yolk color. This is a result of the higher beta carotene the provided by the pasture grasses. A test done by Mother Earth News revealed that eggs laid by hens foraging on pasture have:
1/3 less cholesterol
1/4 less saturated fat
2/3 more vitamin A
2 times omega-3 fatty acids
3 times the vitamin E
7 times the beta carotene
Like our chickens, our turkeys are raised cage-free in the pasture on an all-natural diet of grasses and feed. Our free-range Thanksgiving turkeys are available during the holiday season, and we encourage you to reserve your bird in advance.
